INTRO TO AERIAL YOGA: (open to all abilities) Move your practice off the ground with the help of a fabric hammock. Use gravity to assist and deepen classic hatha yoga poses. In a class you can expect to weave between using your mat and a hammock prop to receive plenty of therapeutic stretching and strengthening, mindful relaxation, decompression of the spine and renewed alignment and flexibility. ALIGNMENT YOGA: This class is an exploration into the art and movement of yoga asana. An extension of a level 1 foundations class with an expansion into a wider variety of poses. Provides a highly attentive and supportive environment rooted in a sequence of postures that flow from one pose to another in harmony with the breath yielding greater strength and flexibility. This class is appropriate for new to yoga, beginners, and ongoing students.
BEGINNER'S SERIES TO HATHA YOGA: This five week series is perfect for beginners, and also appropriate for practitioners that feel that they are missing the basic foundation or fundamental understanding of yoga. The series will prepare practitioners to join our more advanced classes when completed or continue in our Beginner's class.
CANDLELIT YOGA: Introspective and grounding, these classes incorporate breath work, meditation and focus on form with long holds and attention to alignment. Every session is different, each exploring some facet of our subtle body, the anatomy of our physical body and the bio mechanics of asana technique. All levels are always welcome.
CHAKRA FLOW: This is a flow based class that is focused towards opening and balancing the chakras through mindful asana, pranayama, and some guided meditation/visualization. A different chakra will be explored each week while still maintaining a focus on balancing the entire system. In each asana, we will focus on alignment and breath as two of the core principles for accessing and balancing each of the chakras in the subtle body. No previous knowledge of the chakras is necessary and all levels are welcome.
FLEXIBILITY YOGA: (aka "my wife makes me do Yoga" class :) Years of playing sports, running, or working hard without stretching sufficiently, causes muscles to tighten and shorten, making the body prone to injury. Shortened muscles put stress on the joints, leading to chronic issues. This 1 hour, therapeutic class focuses on lengthening the muscles slowly and safely.
GENTLE FLOW: This class will slowly flow between postures focusing on injury prevention, strengthening the body, and guided breath. Both modifications and challenges will be offered. Suitable for all levels of experience.
GENTLE YIN: This is a slow yoga flow class that moves with more attention to longer fluid holds, moving meditations, moon salutations and breathing practices. Both silence and music are used to enhance your experience. Taoist theory of Yin Flow will also be explored through the body and breath. You will cultivate fluid mobility and deep strength while tuning into subtle levels of energetic awareness. This class is open to all levels of experience.
GENTLE YOGA: This class is great for beginners, including seniors, pregnant women, people who are recovery from injury, and those who simply want to have a relaxing practice.
MINDFUL YOGA: Mindful Yoga is meditation in motion. In order to achieve the full benefit of the practice we must truly engage our attention and heart energy so that we can stay fully present. In mindful yoga we use the physical experience of body and breath as a focus for our awareness. We practice experiencing everything that happens calmly without judgment or interpretation. With patience and careful practice this style of yoga will gently guide us out of our heads and into our raw unfiltered experience of being alive in the here and now.
MINDFUL FLOW: In this playful class we will flow through a series of asana with special attention to connecting our breath to our movement. We will focus on building strength, flexibility and agility, as well as learning to quiet the mind. Classes may include a wide variety of asana, sun salutations, pranayama, and guided meditation. Opportunities to modify and/or advance your practice will always be available. All levels welcome.
NIA: Nia is a dynamic cardiovascular workout that stimulates and integrates your body/mind/spirit and leaves you feeling recharged, rejuvenated and fully alive. PATANJALI YOGA: "Classical Yoga," as this practice may be referred to, is focused on calming the mind and being present "here and now" and opening our energy centers. From gentle warmups, we move into engaging bastrika to redicovering ourselves, at the level of a calm meditative state. A couple of sun salutations or pranik salutations followed by a couple of flowing asanas alongside guided and often advanced pranayama allow us to delve deeper into ourselves. The practice ends with deep relaxation/ meditation depending on the need of the moment.
RESTORATIVE YOGA: Yoga's antidote for stress. Very slow moving, emphasis is on relaxation and deep stretching. With the use of props, the body is gently opened while fully supported. Breath-work and meditation are integral parts of our Restorative classes. This class is beginner friendly in the physical sense, but we do not recommend you try Restorative as a beginning class, since its focus is different than regular asana practice. Quieting the mind is the focus, beginners are welcome.
RESTORATIVE AERIAL YOGA and SELF CARE: In this relaxing, slow paced practice we use the hammock low to the ground and other props to allow gravity to help us unwind, relax, release tension and tightness. YOGA BASICS: Especially tailored for those who are new to yoga, this class provides lots of instruction and details to accommodate your specific needs. The pace is slow, and modifications are offered for every posture to make it appropriate for all levels of flexibility and strength. No experience necessary. In fact, no experience is preferred. Come as you are!
